Douglas Foo (Chairman)
As Founder and Chairman of Sakae Holdings Ltd., Mr Douglas Foo has led the growth and development of the Group, which has since established over 100 outlets across Singapore, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Chile. He continues to spearhead the overall strategic direction and management of the Group’s global strategic plans, and its philanthropic initiatives.
Mr Foo is recipient of numerous illustrious accolades and awards, which are testament of his outstanding management and entrepreneurial efforts. For his achievements, Mr Foo was awarded JCS Top Outstanding Young Person Award 2002, Rotary-ASME Entrepreneur of the Year 2002, Singapore Youth Award 2003, the prestigious ASEAN Youth Award 2004, International Management Action Award 2007, Singapore Youth Award (Medal of Commendation) 2008, WSQ Champion Award 2010, ASEAN-China Young Entrepreneur Award 2011, the Public Service Star Award 2013 from His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Singapore for his tireless efforts in his philanthropic and voluntary contributions to society.
In 2015, he was crowned the Entrepreneur of the Year 2015 by Asia Corporate Excellence and Sustainability (ACES). This revered honor is bestowed upon an illustrious entrepreneur who has shown an extraordinary ability to communicate their vision to stakeholders and leads the company towards the status of a mega brand. The recipient of this award displays strong entrepreneurial passion, flair, perseverance, and stands out as a grand example of a remarkable entrepreneur. Mr Foo was also recently awarded the NTUC Friend of Labour Award in 2016.
In September 2013, Mr Foo was selected to attend the prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship in the USA which provides professionals who have demonstrated exemplary leadership, with an intensive and individually designed programme that inspires to achieve consequential outcomes across sectors and borders. Through his fellowship, he has broadened his perspective on global branding, charity and foundation establishment sustainability issues and business expansion funding. He will seek to apply this invaluable knowledge to strengthen our Group as we forge ahead.
Mr Foo serves as director on numerous boards for Corporate, Governmental and Non-profit organizations, and holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration (Finance) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University.
Lilian Foo (Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director)
Ms. Lilian Foo was appointed as our Chief Executive Officer with effect from 1 March 2014, and has been our Executive Director since 2 May 2002. With over a decade of F&B experience , Ms Foo helps to drive Strategic Planning, Overall Management, and spearheads Business Development, as well as the Management of Overseas Strategic Development and Store Expansion. With her combined background in F&B, IT and Operations, Ms Foo aims to continue propelling the business towards Sakae's vision of becoming a Global Brand. Ms. Foo holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Leicester University in the United Kingdom. She also earned herself a Bachelor Degree in Science (Information Systems & Computer Science) from the National University of Singapore, and is a Graduate Diploma in Marketing from The Chartered Institute of Marketing in the United Kingdom.
Loh Chee Peng
Mr Loh Chee Peng was appointed as an Independent Director on 28 January 2019. Mr Loh holds a Bachelor in Business Administration (2nd Class Upper Honours) and a Master of Science (Financial Engineering), both from the National University of Singapore. He started his career in Keppel Bank Ltd as a Management Trainee and moved on to Industrial Commercial Bank (part of the UOB Group) as a Relationship Manager in the Corporate Banking Department. From 2000 to 2005, Mr Loh was with SPRING Singapore. He was the Head in the Incentive Management Department and helped to strategise, implement and oversee the government’s financial assistance initiatives to assist SMEs in their growth. Mr Loh was with Standard Chartered Bank for a short stint as a Product Specialist for SME government assistance schemes. From 2006 to date, he is with United Overseas Bank Ltd. He has undertaken many different roles and responsibilities in Global Business Development Department, Credit Analyst Department and Product Sales Department. Currently, he is an Executive Director in the Commercial Banking Division of the Bank.
Ngoh York Chao Nicholas
A lawyer by training, Nicholas is the Principal Legal Counsel at the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF), its Director of Membership and Industry Groups, and, Director of Corporate and Council Affairs. Prior to joining the SMF, Nicholas was formerly with the Attorney-General’s Chambers and the Singapore Legal Service Commission for about 10 years. During his time with the Commission, Nicholas was appointed a Deputy Public Prosecutor and State Counsel, and was also attached to MOM and ACRA, primarily dealing with matters such as law reform, criminal prosecution, public awareness training and disciplinary proceedings against Public Accountants. Additionally, Nicholas was part of the secretariat of the Corporate Governance Council which successfully implemented substantial changes to the Code of Corporate Governance in 2018. He was also on the editorial team of the inaugural series of Corporate Governance Guidebooks produced by the Singapore Institute of Directors.
Pek Eng Leong
Mr Pek Eng Leong, Lawrence was appointed as an Independent Director on 29 October 2019. He holds a Bachelor of Business in Business Administration – Marketing (Degree with Distinction) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Lawrence started his career in Sony International Singapore Ltd as a Senior Sales Officer from 1995 to 1997, where he was responsible for the Multinational Accounts, MNO (Apple and Compaq, etc) for the Electronics Devices Company. From 1997 to 2001, he was Marketing Manager at Sony Broadcast & Professional, Middle East, based out of Dubai, the UAE. For the better part of 4 years, he developed lasting friendship with key Egyptians, Iranian and Saudi clients. He later became responsible for the Display range of Projector Products and outdoor LED screens for the Middle East. From 2001, he returned to Sony Singapore to be appointed as Head of Business and Industrial Products Department for only 18 months. From 2002 to 2006, he was seconded to China as Senior Manager, Head of Image Sensing Products and also Head of Business Planning and Strategy at Sony China, based out of Shanghai. From 2006 to 2008, Lawrence was Head of Area Sales and Marketing in the Business Planning Division in Sony Hong Kong as well as acting Head of the Sony India Broadcast and Professional Division. From 2008 to 2015, Lawrence became an Executive Consultant at Shenzhen BOLIN Image Science Technology. He is responsible for the Sales and Marketing growth, the Development, Integration of Factory Operations as well as Human Resources planning. From 2015 till date, Lawrence is appointed as CFO and shareholder of Matrics Singapore Pte. Ltd., where he is in charge of Management and Financial reporting, as well as Business Strategy and Planning.
